On Thursdays, the Underworld is inhabited by the Punk & Ska Room. The Main Room plays its usual mix of mainstream metal with industrial, hip-hop and cheesy bits thrown in. The main action is in the Fishbowl at the back. Here, Malcolm plays his mix of classic 80s disco, early punk and goth, tinged by odd MancGoff requests. It's the usual weekly home of the MancGoffs, so a good place to catch the regulars.
Thursday is also the cheapy student night - Carlsberg at a pound a pint before 10:30, and a pound a bottle afterwards can't be bad! Entry is 50p before 10pm, and £1 afterwards.
On Fridays, the Fishbowl becomes the Domain of Bad Metal, while the Main Room sticks to its regular policy. However, under the professional care of Richard Dove and Mark Guy, the Underword plays a great mix of goth and industrial, with techno and gabba bits thrown in with skill and delicacy. There's something for everyone here, and they're happy to take requests as long as you promise to dance to them! The Underworld and Fishbowl carry on usually until about 4am, while the Main Room continues on all night to 7.
Fridays is more pricey than Thursdays, but the club is open all night! Entry is £2.50 before 10:30 and £4 afterwards.
Tonight, while the Main Room merrily flouts its standard wares, the Underworld plays host to nasty AOR and MOR. The Underworld meanwhile plays a Thursdays-esque mix of classic 80s with bits.
Saturdays have the entry fee of Fridays with the timing of Thursdays... point?
As Sundays are totally boring, and the MancGoffs generally love both a good natter and copious quantities of alcohol, we all go down the pub for most of the day! The fine ale house we frequent is the Hogshead on Oxford Road, which is a pleasantly-decorated pub and a great place to spend the afternoon.
Things officially kick off at about 3pm, and go on to throwing-out time at 10:30pm. However, a lot of people tend to come along later; it's best to check the mailing list for precise details, or arrange to meet people there. Come along with company in case the place is empty; someone will attack before long!
There is a wide variety of real ales, fruit wines, wierd things in bottles and other assorted forms of alcohol avaliable, along with some rather good food.
